GV250 How To: Install a Chain Roller From Richard Jordan

I received a chain roller from Richard Jordan with my large parts order. This device puts tension on your chain so it doesn't sag. The reason this is good is that it saves wear and tear on your chain and sprocket thereby extending their serviceable lifetime. You can find the chain roller at Richard Jordan's Hyosung GV/GT Parts site.

What you will need:

  • Chain Roller kit
  • 2 x 10MM Socket Wrench
  • 17MM Wrench
  • Crescent Wrench
  • Needle Nose Pliers

Open the box and remove the parts. Take the piece that looks like a skateboard wheel and stand it on it's end with the threaded side up.

Take the sleave and slip it over the threaded stem.

Take the pivot arm and extend the arm. The arem will have one large hole and a smaller hole on a little pimple (so to speak) The small hole is for the spring as you will see later. Insert the wheel though the arms larger hole. Apply the lock washer and nut and tighten using a crescent wrench and 17MM wrench.

Take the "C" bracket from the parts. Throw it away. You don't need it.

With the wheel facing you, take the top bracket and put two bolts, lock washers and nuts through the bracket and through the pivot arm. This will make mounting much easier when we get to putting it on the GV250's swing arm.

Reaching behind the swing arm, mount the pivot arm the pivot arm with the bolted side closest to the tire. Slide the unit as far to the back of the swing arm as possible.

Insert two more bolts through the top bracket and pivot arm. Put on lockwashers and nuts. Now tighten all four bolts using both 10MM socket wrenches.

Raise the pivot arm so that it touches the chain. Take the spring from the bolt kit and put the open end through the small hole in the pivot arm.

Using needle nose pliers, stretch the spring until it allows you to put a bolt through the outside hole above the pivot arm and thus through the spring.

Use a socket or wrench to lever the bolt though the inside hole on the other side of the arm. Apply a nut and tighten.

That it, your done.
