like many of my project ideas, this one is rooted firmly in the clouds, and the probability of me ever doing it is probably up there with creating an immortality serum from unicorn feces, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

http://www.alternativecruisers.com/index.php?topic=19189.0

I think everyone is probably familiar with my grandpa bike, and how unlike me it really is. I started thinking about unlikely conversions done with other bikes and stumbled across this bike this morning: http://www.pipeburn.com/home/2011/12/1/1975-honda-goldwing-rat-el-guapo.html

I've been wanting to build a cafe anyway and was thinking about the obstacles with this bike: no single backbone, low center-mounted fuel tank, underbody rear shock, unaccommodating rear subframe. After reading about that goldwing, I realized he overcame the exact same obstacles I'm facing. I'm kind of thinking I want to go for it now, just to see where I end up. Thoughts?

VERY rough sketch, but gives an idea what I'm thinking...

Go for it, Jae.

A while back I was seriously interested in building a Cafe Racer until I found out that due the the hyper restrictive EU / Spanish regulations regarding modifications (don't you dare change those turn signals!) I would probably never get it on the road and shelved the project.

I did a lot of internet sourcing for seats, tanks, etc, and have quite a large file on where to get bits, so if I can be of any help get in touch.

El Guapo = Handsome

Cheers, Rog

thanks rog, but other than the tank (which I would source as a second-hand take-off) I think just about everything I would do will be fabricated.  for the KZ305 cafe I'm planning to get a lot of parts from dimecitycycles.com though.

It might be doable if you whip the feces while introducing fairy farts into the mix.

Of course you would have to have a whole lot of fairies available to collect enough of their flatulence for the procedure, due to their small size.  Also they are difficult to catch in the first place.  Chasing with a butterfly net just wears you out and they can avoid most traps.

 Good Luck!

Nice concept, but it baffles me why someone would do all that work and not put some rustoleum paint on the tank....
