I can't imagine they could have any more power to void the warranty than they would if you put on an aftermarket chain... that's like voiding the warranty for putting on non-factory supplied tires.

I agree. I'm not sure about the belt conversion, though.
One thing I know that it would render the bike street illegal in Hungary. We feed a bunch of morons who spend their days making stupid rules.

What? Belt drive is illegal in Hungary?! 0.o

thatfrogggg, that would be jolly nice of you! Although I've given up, a lot of people could find it interesting. The more mod avaliable, the better.

No, changing the drive is illegal. It's legal, to be exact, if you run circles with the bureucracy, in a procedure that probably costs more than the bike and takes (at least) months.

And it is so for many non-factory mondifications Angry (my Kawasaki wheel is probably illegal too, but the inspectors - every vehicle is inspected once per 2 years, naturally you pay the fee - do not know every brand and type, so it'll probably remain undetected...)

The efficiency loss between a chain and belt isn't terribly great, assuming you're not a competitive racer where 2 or 3 percent power loss makes a difference, with the chain being most efficient.  Shaft drives are substantially less efficient.  The trade off is in what you want in terms of maintenance, quietness etc.

I'm a competitive hypermiler, and my girlfriend is winning with her GV250 right now (she beat me at fuel economy by ~1 percent on the last 48-hour run - and her bike does still have the factory transmission ratio...) Tongue

Anyway, this is not my reason for setting my eyes on chain drives. It's the way they announce their death early enough to plan the next change well ahead, and the accessibility of 3rd party chain sets.
