Hunter is the AU distributor for JP

So Hunters really are a re-branded JP. Okay that explains it. Thanks Bill.

The white one I rode had plain machined shocks and polished forks. The engine and covers were completely blacked out save for chrome bolts and exhaust. Very very hot

I wish you could have had it at about 65-70mph for more then a couple minutes. Sad

Great to meet you Gunslinger, and congrats on winning a trophy.  I love bikes that blokes have done their own thing their own way.   Here's a vid here of one of the shows we were at in Qld.

Bwahaha, I'm surprised my award-winning sh*theap even made it into the vid! After that win I'm considering a matte blue paintjob and a few more bodge-job mods laugh

hey man, in my eyes at least, form follows function. rat bikes and just nasty-dirty bikes that actually get ridden get way more respect from me than trailer queens. he**, you should see how my sportster sits right now... it's certainly a sight, especially hard to look at for the harley guys here at work who spend more time polishing than riding. but then again, most metal parts (chrome, raw, or painted) ended up sprayed flat black at some point and then sanded back down to about 75% bare metal.

So does painting raw metal matte black and sanding it back 75% of the way still rust resistant? I'm guessing it's for a sort of gunmetal look.

probably does nothing to help it. i'm pretty sure the engine and rocker covers were originally "raw" aluminum finish, and the guy I bought it from sprayed everything flat black. As I've been going thru it I'm sanding stuff down, but leaving some of the black paint in areas like recessed bolt holes, etc. It gives it an interesting "aged" look. I'll snap a quick picture of what I did during lunch.

The rear fender is only unpainted because I haven't finished chopping it yet. I'm not too worried about the raw aluminum though, because I'm likely to kill the bike with mileage before surface corrosion actually makes a difference.

As it sits right now:
