I have to disagree with you here. I think there are a bunch of people who would love nothing more than HD go back to pan heads in all of their bikes. Seems like for a lot of people, the idea of "tradition" means more than technological advancement. If there was a business case to put the vrod engine in anything else, I can just about guarantee they would.

I think with names like Thunderbird and America it's obvious in typical cheeky Brit form. I'm a shameless Triumph fanboy, been pining for a Thruxton since I laid eyes on one. But then I've also seen first-hand that the Speedmaster is an utter torque monster (outpaced a Ninja 636 uphill with a pillion) and it's a very nice bike. And the paint! Black with cream please!

The fact that the bike was called "America" appealed to me no doubt. Triumph knows that you got to relate to your potential customers, ala America and Daytona.
