I am on the fence about buying a JP Spyder but have a few questions, how you are taken in the biker community ,how are they on long rides and the comfort, what kind of upgrades are needed right off.

Thanks

First off.....If you are gonna be taking long rides this is probably not the best bike from you. These are in town riders and short trip bikes. As far as actual upgrades, there are several mods that can be done.Jets, pipes, sprockets, mirrors, grips, signal lights, headlight, are all upgrades that many Spyder riders have undertaken.

I ride a spyder and the acceptance level is excellent.  Nobody seems to know what it is, but they ALL like it.  Harley riders even get a little green eyed when I tell them the gas mileage.  I don't think anyone has ever guessed the cc's right.  Its always 450 and up to 650 that they guess.

rod4bills, you are definitely accepted in this biker community!  The Pags are great bikes.

If you buy a Spyder and decide to hit the highway for some long ride,id suggest having the seat redone with some firm additional padding. This is what my seat looked like after it was redone by Diamond T Customs. It cost $100 to get it recovered and repadded but i was able to stay in the saddle for hours afterwords.
