Gas Prices And The New Motorcycle Market
By: Bill Ramby
15 July 2008

Todays motorcycle market has changed somewhat daramatically in the last 6 months. Where formerly motorcycle dealers would concentrate on the sales of the big displacement high dollar motorcycles, today they find themselves in a marlet where  small displacement bikes rule the sales floor.

What in the world is going on?
Who would have thought six months ago that you could walk into a motorcycle dealership only to find that the low displacement motorcycles were flying off the showroom floors. Certainly not me, and I have been a long time proponent of this class of motorcycles. Low CC, low displacement motorcycles filled a niche market for the manufactures; that of the "starter bike". What this meant was that the low displacement bikes were built for new riders with the hope that those same riders would upgrade to larger motorcycles fairly quickly. And to be fair, the major manufacturers had judged this market pretty accurately, at least in the U.S.A.

Todays market however is changing. Low displacement motorcycles and scooters are coming to the fore like never before.

Why the sudden change?
With the advent of high gas prices, many motorcycle dealers have experienced a sharp turnaround in sales of all bikes, but mostly in those bikes once deemed starter bikes. Big bore bikes are gathering dust while smaller, more fuel efficient motorcycles and yes, scooters, are getting sold before they even hit the showroom floor. It seems like everyone who has ever ridden a motorcycle, and many who haven't, are snapping up the smaller bikes with a vengeance.

Between the reasonable cost of our bikes, a new more reliable engine and an honest 80 mpg our sales have been very strong this year. One of the things our customers now ask about first is how economical our bikes are.
Kevin Mahoney, President and CEO, Royal Enfield USA, Division of Classic Motorworks

Sales of lesser known, but growing brands are currently skyrocketing in the U.S. Hyosung, KYMCO, Johnny Pag, QLINK CFMoto are just a few of the new brands that are flying off the dealers floor. All of these companies are experiencing growth in today's market due to their focus on smaller motorcycles that use less gasoline.

The first product we sold out of was the Hyosung GV250....

CBXMAN Announces QLINK Legacy/Sapero & CFMOTO V3/V5 Performance Kit

Greetings

After much trial and error and experimentation we are now ready to offer you a way to enhance the performance of your vehicle. We are attaching an Excel sheet that explains the kit and the pricing and you can also find all the same information for ordering at this link:

http://www.cbxmanmotorcycles.com/Qlink-Legacy-Sapero-Stage-1-Kit_722.aspx .

We recommend that you start with all the products listed as Stage 1 and use the CBXMAN weights. That combination is confidential but we feel it is the best way to go. If you still feel you need more performance then go to the Stage 2 kit and order the pipe and carb kit. We will have a K&N air filter in the near future but the stock air box is already plenty large enough. If you would like to see the results of our work go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k6koGcYUmg

We're sorry it took so long for us to complete this project but it took forever for us to come up with a Kevlar belt which is really a necessity. It won't break like the stock one will when more power is applied and it won't stretch like the stock one and lose power.

Thanks for your inquiries! We look forward to being of service!
